What to Know About Requesting Public Information

The Public Information Act does not require a governmental body to create new information, do legal research or answer questions, and the request must be for records already in existence. The governmental body has 10 business days to respond to the request (day one is the first business day following the receipt of the request).

Read our summary of The Public Information Act, including your rights, Becker-Jiba SUD's responsibilities and the procedures to obtain information. Detailed information regarding The Public Information Act may be found in the Open Government section at the Texas Attorney General’s Website.

You may request public information by dropping off the request at the Office between Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

You may also request the information in writing by mailing it to:

          Public Information Officer
          C/O Becker-Jiba SUD
         15269 FM 2860
          Kaufman, TX 75142

If you need additional information, please call 903-498-3592 and ask for the Office Manager.

Please Note:

Becker-Jiba SUD reserves the right to withhold any requested information that is exempt from public disclosure under the Public Information Act or any other applicable law.

If Becker-Jiba SUD seeks a disclosure exception from the Texas Attorney General, you will be notified.
